sheffield city hall
Can't find the pics, but I do have a couple of logs from this local historic site. I'll have to admit, this was a tough one. The tree's, although they were probably over a hundred years old, looked (to me) like they were in pretty good shape. I hated to see them come down almost as bad as Ian Sanford did. But the city's forester/consultants assessment was that there would be significant risk at winds over 35mph. This was a good, although tough for everyone, decision. The good news is that sometime around 2013 or so these trees should find a beautiful, functional second life.
