Today, it is rare to see furnishings that feature cherry wood in its natural color and the beautiful flame patterns that can occur in the hardwood’s grain. “Cherry’s beauty and color are quite subtle,” wood artist Robin Wade says. “It is really beautiful in its natural form.”
Many manufacturers stain their furnishings a color they call “cherry” and, unfortunately, hide this wood’s truly amazing nature. Wade prefers to hand finish, usually with a tung oil and linseed oil or varnish mix, the pieces he crafts from this striking hardwood—including a cherry bench, cherry table, modern cherry dining table.
