We've been dreaming and designing

Introducing RWF seating
At Robin Wade Furniture's Slow Studio, we've been thinking beyond the tabletop. In fact, we’ve been dreaming of pulling up to the tabletop for a home-cooked meal, or reaching over to the one nearby for our glass of sweet tea. For the last few months, we’ve been designing and creating a new line of seating to accompany the tables and benches that have become RWF’s signature.
With the same contemporary design aesthetic as RWF tables, the new seating pieces “have minimal lines and adornment,” wood artist Robin Wade says. “We’re using beautiful, locally sourced walnut as well as other hardwoods with true, honest design.” Just like all RWF pieces, the sofas, benches, chaise longues, dining chairs, and club chairs are hand-crafted from solid slabs of
hardwoods. “We don’t use stains or veneers,” Wade says. “If a piece looks heavy or thick, it is. There’s nothing hidden here.”
Although the seating is low-slung and pitched to hold the body at a restful angle, it seems an oxymoron to refer to each solid-wood piece as comfortable. Wade, however, finds the new designs visually soothing. “I find comfort and joy in designing and making, as well as living with, these new pieces,” he says. As far as adorning them with pillows for creature comforts, “That is a decision for a designer who knows her customers and their homes,” he says. “I want them to choose what is best.”
We think a pairing is best—a table and chair together in an area where friends and family gather give a space, no matter its inherent style, a touch of Mother Nature. What better way to lend your home a sense of casual comfort and welcoming than to adorn it with natural beauty?
