cherry butterfly key

This pic is a good example of a cherry butterfly key.  Also called a butterfly joint, it resembles two connected dovetails.  If you are a longtime furniture buff, you may have seen similar joinery in George Nakashima's work a half a century ago.  The cherry butterfly key has evolved here in our studio, and you can see iterations in other tables here and there.
